Cette année, tout est plus grand et plus beau ! Le marché Smart Design Mart 2011 présente des nouveaux designers, des artistes émergents, en plus des designers locaux les plus en demande. Inspirés par la foire artisanale traditionnelle, les organisateurs de cet événement Furni (Devin Barrette & Mike Giles), Broundoor (Marc Simard), Elaine Ho, Norwegian Wood (Angie Johnson), Tyson Bodnarchuk et La Raffinerie (Julia Vallelunga) lui ont ajouté une touche de modernisme. Ils ont imaginé un marché à aires ouvertes rassemblant la crème du talent créatif montréalais. smart design mart est constitué d’autant de designers vétérans que de nouveaux designers, créant ainsi un mix dynamique dans diverses catégories (vêtements, bijoux, art, ameublement et vintage). Situé dans un gigantesque local industriel de 20 000 pieds carré dans le quartier artistique du Mile-End, le marché Smart Design Mart est composé de designers soigneusement sélectionnés par les organisateurs. Les designers aménagent eux-mêmes leur mini-boutique. Attendez-vous à un décor unique et original ! Les allées seront spacieuses, de la nourriture et des rafraîchissements seront servis, et de la bonne musique accompagnera l’événement. Le regroupement montréalais d’art collectif EN MASSE a également été invité à créer une installation d’art que les visiteurs pourront admirer en direct. And this year is bigger and better than last! SDM 2011 will feature new designers and artists as well as local favorites. Taking the idea of the classic artisan fair and giving it a modern spin, the curators of this event Furni (Devin Barrette & Mike Giles), Broundoor (Marc Simard), Elaine Ho, Norwegian Wood (Angie Johnson), Tyson Bodnarchuk and La Raffinerie (Julia Vallelunga) have envisioned a show with wide open spaces and some of Montreal’s finest artists and designers. The show is a blend of seasoned show veterans and fresh from the studio first time exhibitors, creating a dynamic mix in a variety of categories such as clothing, jewelry, furniture, art and the welcome addition of select vintage goods. This year we’ll also have a gift wrapping station with all proceeds going to the Refuge pour Chats de Verdun. Set in the industrial setting of a 20 000 square foot garment industry loft (now empty) each designer and artist has been hand picked by the smart design mart curators and has been asked to create a mini boutique within the space. Aisles will be roomy, food and drink will be served and music will be drifting, creating the perfect exciting yet comfortable shopping event. To celebrate the 50 + exhibitions we’ve curated in the past 5 years, Headquarters is proud to present “BFF” (Best Friends Forever). A retrospective look at all the amazing work and incredible talent that’s been showcased on our walls.

We’d love to see all the friends of HQ, both new and old, come out for our final exhibition before HQ closes it’s doors. Owners Tyson Bodnarchuk and Angie Johnson are moving on to new exciting projects, but would love to see you all for one last hurrah. All are welcome for an amazing night of art, music by DJ Garry Vickers, drinks and good times!
